Visit to 2 major infrastructure projects
🔎 Diving into the heart of the cement industry and the retention of Captain Geze
Yesterday, our students had the opportunity to explore two strategic sites in the construction sector:
visit to the calcia cement plant in beaucaire – Heidelberg Materials France
A key cement production site where our students discovered :
– Stages in the cement manufacturing process, from extraction to packaging
– Environmental challenges and solutions for more sustainable cement (clinker reduction, CO₂ capture, energy optimization).
– Norway’s revolutionary project to capture 100% of CO₂ emissions.
A huge thank you to Heidelberg Materials France, Fabien Pouillou, as well as the Syndicat National du Béton Prêt à l’Emploi (SNBPE) and Marion Martinez for their warm welcome and valuable explanations!
🌊 Visit to the capitaine geze retention basin – NGE – IMEOH
An exemplary engineering work in which our students were able to analyze :
– The importance of retention basins for stormwater and wastewater management
– Technical and structural choices: foundations (raft, micropiles, piles), modular design
– The contribution of digital tools (Cype, CivilFEM for Ansys, Revit, Plaxis, etc.) for modeling and calculating construction phases
Many thanks to Ninos Salur, NGE FONDATIONS, Jean-Guillaume MOULIN, IMEOH for their warm welcome and the quality of their explanations.
🚀 Two technical visits, one conclusion: successful projects rely on innovation, engineering and a sustainable vision of construction!
